In addition to the pediatric services offered by our Family Medicine physicians, Kathryn Landon-Malone, a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) offers Pediatric Care. These services include a thorough assessment of a child’s growth and development, physical examinations, and teaching about how to support wellness in children including parenting, nutrition, breastfeeding, sleep and care of minor pediatric illnesses. PNP’s also manage childhood illnesses including chronic illnesses like asthma, eczema, allergies, digestive problems, psychiatric problems and others and work independently, and in consultation with physicians.
To complement primary pediatric care, Kathryn offers a variety of special pediatric offerings including:
Pediatric Hypnotherapy
Pediatric Hypnosis is a non pharmacological treatment for common childhood problems like bedwetting, headaches, anxiety, tics, warts, stomach aches, pain and others. Research has shown significant efficacy in treating these diagnoses with pediatric hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy for bedwetting for example has been found to be as effective as medications or alarms and more effective over time than other treatment options.
CircleCare™ for Kids
CircleCare™ for Kids is an innovative approach to children’s health care developed by Kathryn Landon-Malone, CPNP and modeled after the Centering Pregnancy® program. Parents of newborns, especially parents who are having their first child, benefit from the support of a group and the experience of other parents as they encounter “what do I do about that” questions and anxieties. Group care allows for two hours of group time during which Kathryn educates the parents on the topics traditionally covered in individual well-child visits. In addition, the child received an individual check up and immunizations with Kathryn.
Best First Year of Life
This package approach to Kathryn’s services allows a family to purchase a year of care in one lump sum or in quarterly payments. The package includes: a prenatal consultation, up to 2 hospital visits for normal newborn care, well-child visits at 1 week, and at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, and 12 months, one hour of phone consultation time, one, 30-minute behavioral or parenting consultation, two acute visits and a one hour pediatric class.
Individual Consultations on Sleep, Parenting and Behavior
Sleep, Parenting and Behavior are three issues that parents struggle with while raising children. Kathryn’s individual sessions offer enough time for parents to explain fully their concerns and provide enough time to develop a plan of action. Each session includes a treatment plan and follow up phone calls.
