True North Staff Performance Excellence (S-PEP) Research Project

This purpose of this study is to measure the effectiveness of having a clear Performance Excellence policy and procedure and further engaging Circle to position True North to achieve both organization and individual performance excellence so that:

  • True North’s mission and strategic objectives are accomplished
  • Staff member personal satisfaction is derived through positive interaction with peers and professional accomplishments
  • Staff members are enabled to perform to the best of their abilities

Staff members will be asked to:

1. Self-Evaluation – Circle Member obtains and completes the self-evaluation component of the True North Performance Excellence tool which incorporates the True North Mission, True North Circle member Core Competencies, Job Description key objectives and opportunity for the creation of integrated and aligned, specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timebound Circle member goals.

2. Circle input – The True North Circle (following Circle Principles and Agreements) provides input specific to Circle Members strengths, opportunities for improvement and specific notes of achievements/contributions (in all cases, specific examples are requested).

3. Performance Excellence Circle Discussion – Decision Circle and Circle Member meet for formal conversation to review and discuss performance.

4. Follow-up Circle Discussion – Circle Member meets with Program Facilitator to discuss Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time Bound (SMART) goals associated with role and establish quarterly check in dates for ongoing discussions, sharing and measurement of impact of process on performance of organization and individual.

Once enough data has been collected, presumptively six Circle Members engaged in S-PEP research project over twelve month period, the data will be collated and reviewed.

We expect to see a correlation between Circle member S-PEP engagement and performance as compared with Circle members in similar roles who have not engaged in S-PEP. As S-PEP engagement continues we expect to see an increase in productivity and aggregated staff retention rates by job category.
